Alex Ilie

Alex IlieBorn in a Christian home, in the county of Arges, Alex felt the calling to “something special” ever since his childhood.

He became a Christian in his first year of high-school, when, along with his salvation, he received the passion for God and for people. In 2002, he graduated with a degree in theology, and in 2003 with another on in sociology-psichology. While in high-school, he was involved in different ministries – with orphans, the elderly people’s home in Pitesti, and has worked also with many eldelry and sick people from hospitals. His passion for the lost energizes him continually: sadly though, his lack of focus resulted in mediocre rezults an that time. During his university years, his meeting with the Organization for Christian Evangelical Students in Romania represented a turning point for him. He understood the principles of focusing and the value of the process which is at least as important as the result. He became part of the team who started the Christian ministry among the students in Pitesti, movement which he coordinated until 2006. Between 2002-2004 he teaches at Elim Theological High-school in Pitesti, and in the last period he becomes the school’s principal. Since January 2005, he joins the OSCER national team: in the first years he does pioneering work in the central part of Romania, then he coordinates the center and southern area and, since November 2007, he serves as OSCER national coordinator. Between 2003-2008, along with others, he sees more and more the need for a new, relevant church in Pitesti. Since January 2008 he coordinates the leadership team of the Petra church. He is married to Nati since 2004, and together they wish to be a blessing for Pitesti and beyond. The verse which speaks to him in a particular way and inspires him is John 15:5: “I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remain in me and I in him, he will bear much frauit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Alex is part of the BIG ministry team, his responsabilities are in the university students’ network.
